What is a Model United Nations?
A Model United Nations (MUN) is a students Conference that aims to simulate the work done in a United Nations Assembly or Committee, and develops as a competition, extremely popular among the best Universities and schools in the world.
In this event, started at Harvard University, each student has the role to represent a country in the discussion of a internationally relevant topic, either political, social, economic and cultural, with the aim to define solutions for the issues being discussed.
The Lima Model United Nations (LiMUN)
The Lima Model United Nations (LiMUN) is the Conference organized annually by Asociación de Estudios de Naciones Unidas (AENU Peru) since 2012. This MUN is directed to 3rd, 4th and 5th year secondary students and has been positioning as the largest MUN in the country, and the one with the highest quality, academically and logistically. Thus, LiMUN has become in one of the highest level educational experiences for Peruvian schools in the past years.
On our last edition, more than 1000 students from 40 schools within the country participated. This is why our Conference is well known by school authorities as a space where students from different backgrounds have to build friendships and exchange opinions regarding relevant topics for our society.
During the four first editions of LiMUN, we´ve had the honor to receive authorities such as Jose Gallardo, Minister of Transportation and Communications; the “My World” initiative by Ban Ki Moon Peruvian reprentative, among other guests, who with their experiences in national and international development aimed to inspire our participants for the Conference.
